  • 0 hashtags drives only 18% engagement per 1,000 followers.

On Facebook:

  • 1-2 hashtags is the sweet spot with an average of 593 interactions per post;
  • 3-5 hashtags per post drops the engagement to an average of 416 per post;
  • The more hashtags you add, the lower the interactions you’ll see on each post.

Use hashtags strategically. Look at the network where you’re posting to determine the best practice for that specific audience.

2. Be a Good Listener

When it comes to driving traffic, it makes sense you’d like to share as many links to your content as possible. Still, sometimes you have to take a backseat and listen to what’s happening online to get people to your website.

It sounds counterintuitive but let me explain.

People are talking about what you offer whether you realize it or not. These people are asking for help, want answers, and need direction. You’re the expert in your field, so it’s you who should be offering your voice to the conversation that’s already taking place.

By monitoring specific terms (or hashtags), you will see what people are saying. You can then jump in and offer helpful advice, pointing the person to an article on your website. You’ll drive more traffic and you’ll get in front of someone who is already expressing interest about what you sell.

3. Get in Front of Influencers

Another way to get seen by new audiences on social media is to get influencers to share your work.
